At Technique Studios, our mission is to provide each student with the proper technical training and character development needed to achieve their personal best.  Dream Big, Dream Now, Dream Here is our motto.  Hard work and passion is our foundation.  We are super excited to be a part of shaping the future for all of our dreamers!

We invest in the success of your child!

In addition to receiving a quality education, we intend for our students to feel success.  Our instructors make an emotional investment in the growth of each student.  Success on behalf of the student and the instructor can only come from proper commitment of time.  Martial Arts, Gymnastics or Dance simply cannot be learned in a few short weeks.  Our curriculums are designed to progress each student through an entire school year of training.  Therefore, once enrolled, students are expected to train through the end of the school year (at a minimum).  Competition students train year-round (attend both sessions).

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Registration and Policies

Q:  I am really just looking to try a fun activity. Your programs sound serious. Should I still sign up?

A: Our instructors are degreed, seasoned professionals who  have chosen to provide their expertise to our students as their career.  We are serious about the quality of what we teach, however classes by their nature are  hugely fun.  We believe the exercise, discipline, mental processes and the respect the students learn from taking our classes is GREAT for kids!    Our programs help to form a strong foundation of physically fit, character driven, and well-adjusted citizens.

If you are a newcomer, we encourage you to try a class for FREE!  However, if you are simply looking for an entertaining activity for your child, and are not willing to complete the school year, then the schools at Technique Studios may not be the best choice for you.

Q: Can I sign up for classes once the school year session has started?

A:New students in dance and gymnastics are accepted at most times through April 2012 and Martial Arts students are accepted throughout the year.  Students who enroll in dance classes after JANUARY may or may not be eligible to perform in the Spring Showcase.  Similarly, students who enroll in gymnastics classes after FEBRUARY may or may not be eligible to perform in the Spring Challenge Fun Meet.  Eligibility depends on many factors including costume ordering and current progress of the class.

Q: How do I register?  Is there a registration fee?

A:Each family must complete a Family Registration Form and also sign an Acknowledgment of School Policies Form as located at the end of this School Information Packet.  New students must register for classes in person at Student Services.

Existing or previous students may register over the phone once schedules become available.  Existing or previous students must visit Student Services before their first class to update their account cards and sign an Acknowledgment of School Policies Form for the 2011/12 season.  Class schedules and registration forms are available at Student Services or on our website at www.technique-studios.com beginning July 23, 2012.  A Student Services representative will discuss your class selection with you and will enroll your child in the best fit class of your choice.

A School Year Administration Fee is due upon initial registration for each School Year Session.  These fees defray administrative costs, including our ability to provide full-time Student Services assistance.  2011/2012 Family Fee is $62 and Single Student Fee is $42.

Q: How often is tuition due?

A:Tuition is payable every other month starting in August.  Tuition must be received by the close of business on the day of your child’s first scheduled class in a Tuition Due Month (TDM).   TDM’s are as follows: August, October, December, February, April.  Tuition is based on a 10 month school year (mid-August through mid-June) and then divided into (5) bi-monthly payments.  When you enroll a student at Technique Studios you are enrolling for the entire school year.  Early departure is not grounds for ceasing payment.  Exceptions involving extreme situations can be directed to the owner(s).  Checks are preferred however we do accept cash and VISA, DISCOVER or MASTERCARD.  Checks may be mailed in advance.   There is a $35.00 returned check charge for any checks returned by the bank.

If you register AFTER the school year begins, your first tuition payment will also include tuition for the 1 or 2 classes scheduled in June 2012.  We do not attempt to collect payment for these single classes at the end of the year.

Note about Tuition:Tuition remains the same regardless of the number of lessons in the month.  Most months have 4 or 5 lessons.  There are no extra charges for months with more classes.  Likewise, there are no pro-rated tuition or make-up classes due in months with less than 4 classes due to scheduled holidays.  Please see the School Year Calendar for scheduled holidays.

Q: What if I pay tuition late?

A:Tuition is due regardless of attendance.  If tuition is paid after your first scheduled class of a TDM (Tuition Due Month), a $15 late fee is applied to your account and payable at once.  Late fees can be avoided by making payments over the phone.  You may also drop your check into the Tuition Box located at the front desk if a Student Services representative is otherwise occupied.  Overdue accounts will be billed as they require extra administrative processing.  Student Services representatives do not have the authority to waive late fees.

Q: Do you remind me when tuition is due?

A: Technique Studios does not send a bill to current accounts.  You will only receive a bill if your tuition is late. We do, however, oftentimes send a friendly email reminder when a Tuition Due Month is approaching as well as post a notice on the front door.  We also hand out a Tuition Due Month schedule at registration.  Ultimately, it is the primary responsibility of the parent to understand when tuition is due and if/when tuition is late.

Q: Can I drop one month and re-join in another month during the season?

A: The curriculums for all three schools are designed to progress the students through an entire school year.  For example, the curriculum taught in the month of December may be pre-requisite knowledge for obtaining learned skills in January.  Dropping, once enrolled, is an unfortunate disruption for the student, the class, and the instructor- who has invested in the progress of the student.

For these and other administrative reasons, there is a $25 re-enrollment fee for dropped students who wish to re-enroll in the same program.  However, re-enrollment must first be approved by the instructor, assuming space is still available in the class.  Private lessons may be required to get the student back up to speed.

*Note about dropping mid-season:  Please inform Student Services right away if you intend to drop or are contemplating dropping your student for any reason.  Your account will continue to be billed unless alternative arrangements have been made with the owner(s) due to extreme circumstances.

Q:  Are there discounts for family members?

A:  YES!  There are 3 great ways to save!

  1. When more than one immediate family member is enrolled at the same time, ONLY the most expensive tuition in your family pays full fare; ALL lesser tuition are discounted 10%.
  2. Choose a Program with built-in reduced rates for huge savings: Early Childhood Dance & Gymnastics Program (Monday or Tuesday 9:30- 12:00p - saves 30%!), Unlimited Wushu etc.  Dance and Gymnastics Teams pay a reduced hourly rate.
  3. Families who pay for the entire school year before September 30 receive ONE FREE MONTH (or 10% off).

(Note: School year discounts do not apply to already reduced programs including: Early Childhood Dance & Gymnastics Program, Team Gymnastics Programs, Unlimited Wushu Programs, Private Lessons, and Adult Punch Cards.)

General Program Policies

Email & Other Communications

Communication on both sides is important for a successful program.   Outside of class, email is our primary form of communication with you regarding weekly updates, tuition notices, class cancelations, important dates, program news, etc.  Communication will always be emailed and/or posted on the web or program bulletin boards.  We make every attempt to promote positive, consistent communication.  If you feel you did not receive a communication from us, this does not necessarily mean we did not attempt to send it.  It is the parents’ responsibility to be aware of all information pertinent to their child.  Parents should take time to read the bulletin boards each time they pick up their child.  In addition, parents should ask their child about any announced changes.   Failing to keep updated may mean missing out on the incredible things we are doing!   Please remember to place your email settings to accept email from Technique Studios.   ________ initial

Refund Policy

When Tuition payment is made, a space in class is reserved for the student for the entire school year regardless of attendance.  Technique Studios does not offer refunds or credits on tuition or fees paid.  Technique Studios does not offer prorated tuition for missed classes.  If class is canceled for any reason, an alternative class will be offered.  Each class is offered one snow day without a make-up class.

Make-up Procedures

Just like college, your tuition pays for a space in class, regardless of attendance.  However, whenever possible we will attempt to grant a make-up request for classes missed.  Instructors must approve make-ups and the make-up must be completed within 30 days of their missed class.  Make-ups are only granted to current members or students with current tuition paid.  Technique Studios reserves the right to refuse to offer a make-up if we feel it will affect safety or lessen the experience of those students who have registered for and paid for that class.  Make-up classes need to be scheduled with Student Service.  With the exception of  Martial Arts, make up classes are not given during the month of May or the first week of June.  At this time, end of the school year dance and gymnastics performance preparations are in progress.

Class Cancelations

Classes must meet enrollment minimums in order to run the class.  Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment, inclement weather or other unplanned events.  In the rare event that a class must be canceled, students will be notified immediately and information will be given regarding alternative arrangements if applicable.  Each class is allowed one snow day without a make-up class.

Videotaping Policy

For legal considerations as well as the requested privacy protection of certain families, there is absolutely no videotaping of any kind inside the facility of Technique Studios.
