Welcome to the Home of Our Wushu School

I wish to extended a heart felt welcome to all Wushu students.  At our school we strive to help you grow not only as a martial arts practitioner but also a person with great discipline, respect, humility, dedication, determination, and perseverance to name but a few.  We recognize the fact that Martial Arts is a "way of life" and what that means to us is really Learning.  Continuing to learn, training and honing one's skill until they be masters of it.

As you become more integrated into the school and learn a variety of character philosophies and principles, try to apply these same messages outside of the class room.  It's not enough to demonstrate discipline and respect only in class.

What Do I Wear?

Wushu Students should wear the proper uniform once it has been provided.  It is highly recommended that the students purchase the proper uniform from the school no more than 2 months from the time they start.  Proper shoes is important as it gets the student familiar with doing Wushu with shoes on, but also so they can have adequate traction while performing the movements.

What is Expected of Each Student

Student Expectations as the same as in the normal class but more:

· Be committed and persevere through difficulties or especially when felling "bored".  Martial arts is about the mastery of the movements so that it become instinctual.  It is only then that you can truly say you know the movement.

· Arrive at least 5 minutes early to every class.  A good saying we like to adopt is 15 min early is on time, On time is Late, Late is unacceptable and disrespectful, to you, the school, your class mates and to the teacher.

· Be dressed in a clean and complete uniform

· Come prepared to work hard

· Come prepared to focus and retain the training or corrections provided.

· Maintain a positive learning attitude

· Maintain respect for the teacher (Shifu), classmates and the facility

· Review handbook regularly!!!

· Perform “homework” exercises / circuits

· Have fun doing it.  Martial Arts can be a fun or as boring as you make it.  The movements are repetitive however necessary in order to get to a point of making it habitual and instinctual, e.g. move without thinking.
