Annual Dance & Performing Arts Showcase - June 2, 2012 at St. Louis University High School Theater
Dance, Musical Theater and Voice are “performing” arts and a well-rounded arts school will offer many opportunities to perform. All dance and musical theater students will perform in our annual Dance and Performing Arts Showcase held on June 2, 2012 at St. Louis University High School. There are (2) separate fees associated with the Showcase which is in additional to normal tuition.

Angel II Ballet/Tap classes will perform in 2 numbers-(1) tap and (1) ballet. Ballet/Tap/Jazz classes will perform 2 numbers- (1) tap and (1) jazz. Hip Hop classes will perform in (1) number. Musical Theater class will perform in (1) ‘short’ production piece. Costume balances are due April 1.

Showcase Fee will be determined in December after class rosters have been evaluated. Showcase Fee is not due until February 1. Families who have paid costume balances and Showcase Fees in full by their due dates will receive (2) FREE TICKETS to the show their child(ren) is performing in. Performers will receive Medals.

Families will receive more information regarding Showcase rehearsal times, extra ticketing etc. once the school year has begun.
Email and other Communications
Outside of class, email is our primary form of communication with you regarding Showcase and other program information. Please add This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to your email address book in order to accept emails from us. Emails are sent by class and to the email address we are given at registration. Sometimes an email is “sent” but for one reason or another not received on the parent’s end. Therefore, any communication emailed will also be posted on the bulletin boards. We suggest reading the bulletin boards and checking emails regularly. Handouts given after class do have each child’s name handwritten on them to insure every child receives one. All handouts will also be posted on the bulletin boards. It is the parent’s responsibility to be aware of all information pertinent to their child even if the child is absent from class.
Attendance
Attendance is critical to your child’s success! You should have received a school year calendar at the time of your registration with planned holidays. Absences affect the class as a whole especially when choreography is being learned. M.A.X. is not a studio that pulls a child out of Showcase due to lack of attendance, however, dress rehearsals can run long if a student does not know the choreography. Please make sure your child attends every scheduled class as possible. Make-up classes, while permitted, do not allow for your child to keep up on the choreography learned in his/her regular class.
Observation Windows
Technique Studios encourages parents and visitors to watch students through the windows, and therefore, the curtains covering the viewing windows are generally left open during class time. However, when students’ focus becomes deterred by activity outside the classroom, as is often the case for our young students, the instructor may elect to conduct class with closed curtains. While we love our parents to be involved, we encourage you to not communicate with your child during their scheduled class through the windows. Window viewing is typically closed 1-1/2 months prior to Showcase in order to minimize outside distractions.
